The inspiration for this painting came one night in a dream. I had a dream of Jesus kneeling down on a rock dropping a pebble into a body of water to create a ripple effect. It was a very pretty picture, so I decided to paint it. All of my art work has a deeper meaning to me. Most of the time art is a way that helps me share my heart and my testimony with others. So, it was interesting to me that this one was created first by seeing an image and then later finding the deep meaning. As a mom of 3 little kids I struggled with feeling like I am doing a great work. Sometimes doing tasks that felt mundane like sweeping the floor or doing the dishes for the third time that day just left me feeling like I wasn’t very important. This painting taught me otherwise. I realized that the savor did small things that had a huge impact. This small soft pebble he dropped into the water will have a ripple effect. Often these small daily tasks may seem unimportant, but they have the greatest impact. One of my favorite scriptures is Moses 1:39 “For behold, this is my work and my glory, to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.” In life when things may seem too small or too simple to be important remember this painting and this scripture. Alma 37: 6-7
“6 Now ye may suppose that this is afoolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by bsmall and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.
7 And the Lord God doth work by ameans to bring about his great and eternal purposes; and by very bsmall means the Lord doth cconfound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls.”
